Shivena10 is a clear, slightly oily liquid with a resinous and ester-like (but very mild) odor. The main application is the use as a co-monomer in the production of aqueous polymer emulsions as binders for paints. The colors formulated with these binders have a higher alkali tolerance and resistance to weathering , than those that are made from vinyl acetate homopolymer dispersions. Finally, they will not be degraded by UV light and therefore will not cause yellowing.
Shivena 10 appears in following polymer systems:
- Shivena 10 + VAM
- Shivena 10 + VAM + acrylate monomer
- Shivena 10 + VAM + methacrylate monomer
- Shivena 10 + VAM + ethylene
- Shivena 10 + acrylate monomer
Neodecanoic acid vinyl ester was first introduced by Shell Chemical Company in the 1960s under name VeoVa 10. Later on Hüls AG produced a comparable product-line with LICAN 270 as a direct countertype of VeoVa 10. Nowadays the highly efficient production of our partner Hebei Shield brings us into the position to provide the European market with the competitive countertype to existing material.
